Project Profile:

The Central Station and Central Walk Upgrade Project involves construction of the new Sydney Metro platforms at Central Station. Included in the upgrade is a new pedestrian concourse that connects the new Metro platforms to Chalmers Street. This project is said to be the catalyst in revitalising the south of the Sydney CBD.

Scope of works

The Central Station and Central Walk Project works include:

  • Construction of the Central Walk – a 19-metre wide tunnel connecting Chalmers Street to the new Sydney Metro platforms
  • Construction of the new Sydney Metro platforms and world-class Metro station
  • Renewal of Central Station, including historic elements
  • A new feature roof to be constructed over the Northern Concourse to emphasise the historic features of the Central Electric Building

During the project, O’Halloran Management Services has worked under the Transport for New South Wales safety policies and protocols which are enforced by Laing O’Rourke.

O’Halloran Management Services ensured all safety documentation and procedures are consistently updated to meet the requirements of both Transport for New South Wales and Laing O’Rourke
