Project Profile:

The NorthConnex tunnel alignment tunnel involves the construction of a 9km tunnel linking the M1 Pacific Motorway to the M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills. The project is the largest road tunnel project in Australia and will remove approximately 5,000 trucks from Pennant Hills Road each day.

Scope of works

The NorthConnex works include:

  • A total of 21km of tunnel excavation and approximately 2.25 million cubic metres of spoil removal
  • Construction of two 9km long tunnels with a height clearance of 5.3m
  • A Northern interchange at Pennant Hills Road and the M1 Pacific Motorway
  • A Southern interchange at Pennant Hills Road and the Hills M2 Motorway
  • Integration works on the M2 Motorway to provide an extra 3.5km lane and bridge widening works from Pennant Hills Road to the Windsor Road interchange
  • On and off ramps to link the tunnel and the existing M1 Pacific Motorway

O’Halloran Management Services Engagement

During the project, O’Halloran Management Services has worked with the Northconnex Project to complete the tunnel fit-out portion of the Project under the Transport for New South Wales safety policies and protocols which are enforced by the NorthConnex Joint Venture.

O’Halloran Management Services ensured all safety documentation and procedures are consistently updated to meet the requirements of Northconnex Joint Venture
